Tuna Netting
I have never built a Tuna seine net, but I know a lot about traditional Tuna seines. I am confident I could build the best Tuna seine, but the tuna industry is steeped in tradition, and I feel a tremendous reluctance to change from using the traditional nets, fishing in the traditional way. I include it in the hope someone, someday, wants to think about innovation.
Mesh size range is generally from 3-1/2” (89mm) in the bunt to 4-1/4” (108mm) and 8” (203mm) in the body of the net.
In my opinion, there is no fishery better suited to my particular net design. It will be expensive, for sure, but the performance will be unmatched.
As I mentioned in the introduction, I have not built any Tuna seines. It requires working with the right individual that is not constrained by convention. I’ve travelled a lot, and never met such a person. If you are reading this, and you feel I have described you, then we should meet. You can get in touch with me here.
